6-Month 1:1 Coaching Program
Overview
For six months, we will work one-on-one, collaboratively together, to build your knowledge and skills in three areas
Throughout our time together you will be applying what you’re learning, getting real-time feedback, and adjusting and tweaking as we go. For the first four months we meet weekly for 30 to 60 minutes. For month 5 and 6 we meet every other week, for 30 minutes.
Included throughout are:
|
I was skeptical, hesitant and an unlikely coachee! I wasn't convinced that coaching would be an effective method for me. |
Foundations (Month 1)
Bullying and toxic environments put an incredible amount of stress on us.
In Foundations we look at stress, your stress responses, resilience in general and shame resilience in particular (as shaming is SO prevalent in bullying and toxic environments) – so that you get your nervous system more stabilized and start to feel better. We start here so you can feel have the mental, emotional and physical energy to take the next steps. We also review your job history to see if there are any patterns in your journey so far that may be contributing to why you are finding yourself in this situation now. |
I had anxiety about a potential career change. I had lost self-confidence. I also wanted to work on expanding my emotional intelligence and ability to experience emotions more fully. |
"Sap" work (Month 2-3)
“Sap work” is the internal work (think of the sap of a tree).
This is about building you up and strengthening you from the inside out. Your inner world – your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, values, energy and mindset – are your sap. They matter – a lot. They are core to your ability to deal confidently and effectively with toxic environments and workplace bullying. We assess the current state of your sap, and work to strengthen and invigorate it. Specifically we look at and develop strategies to deal with:
|
“Bark” work (Month 3-4)
Then we shift to building up your “bark” (again, think of a tree). Your bark is comprised of the external practices, behaviours and actions that you take to protect your sap. This may include communication skills, boundary setting, or other specific actions you need to take to put an end to the situation – whether you are staying or leaving.

I came to coaching because of a painful, draining relationship with my boss, with no end in sight. And struggling with sleep and timeliness. I was so skeptical and nervous at the beginning! |
Sustain (Month 5 & 6)
We wrap up with the “Sustain” phase.
By this point you will making great progress and it will be so super tempting to stop here.
And, what I’ve seen time and time again is that if we stop here, it is still all too easy for you to lose heart and get stuck again.
This “light touch” phase is here so that you have the on-tap support to keep you moving forward and really solidify all your learnings and growth. This phase is completely custom: we work together to deal with whatever comes up.

I was an f-ing mess. I was just trashed, feeling isolated and alone. I was just gasping for air. I was in such a fog. I did NOT see a way to my power. I came to Sue wanting to increase my resilience and capacity to navigate stressful work situations. Sue's exercises and guidance helped me find ways to break patterns and try new approaches to challenging situations where I used to freeze up or be stuck in a defensive mode. |
